Pansipit River

Details

The Pansipit River acts as the sole outlet for Lake Taal, linking it to Balayan Bay. It was once called Taa-lan, named after the Taa-lan tree that grew along its banks and the shores of what was previously known as Bombon Lake. Stretching approximately nine kilometers, the river passes through Agoncillo, San Nicolas, Lemery, and Taal. As it connects the freshwater of Lake Taal with the salty waters of Balayan Bay, the river sustains a rich and diverse marine environment, home to species such as the native tawilis (freshwater sardine), talakitok (bigeye trevally), and maliputo (giant trevally).
