Originally founded in 1817, the present-day structure of Ibaan Church was constructed between 1853 and 1869. The design of the church, with its cruciform layout, was crafted by architect Luciano Oliver. Throughout its history, the church has withstood natural calamities, including an earthquake in 1880, but was restored several times, most notably from 1891 to 1896.
Ibaan Church is under the care of the Oblates of Saint Joseph and is part of the Archdiocese of Lipa. In 2017, to commemorate its bicentennial, the church underwent a significant restoration that included renovations to the altar and the painting of the ceiling.
On June 16, 2022, the church was elevated to the status of an archdiocesan shrine, further solidifying its importance both spiritually and historically within the region.
